Please follow these few simple steps to setup ZENECTED on your Windows 7:
Right-click the network icon [Step 1] on the bottom-right side of Windows screen, and click “Open Network and Sharing Center” [Step 2]
This will open “Network Sharing Center” settings window. Click “Set up a new connection or network” [Step 3]
Select “Connect to a workplace” [Step 4].
Now for Internet address enter your Zenected instance IP or hostname [Step 5]. For Destinantion name use whatever description you like. We used Zenected [Step 6]. Check the option “Don’t connect now; just set it up so I can connect later” [Step 7]. Click Next.
On the next screen enter your username [Step 8] and password [Step 9] as provided by your Zenected administrator. You can check the box to “Remember this password” [Step 10]. Click Create.
Although this next screen allows you to attempt to connect, don’t do that just now. Just click Close [Step 11].
Back in the “Network Sharing Center” settings window, on the left, choose “Change adapter settings” [Step 12].
Right click on the VPN connection and go to “Properties” [Step 13].
Go to “Security” tab. Then:
- Confirm that “Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPSec (L2TP/IPSec)” is selected [Step 14].
- Then select “Allow these protocols” [Step 15] and check “Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)” [Step 16].
- After that go to “Advanced settings” [Step 17].
In the following window select “Use preshared key for authentication” [Step 18] and in the “Key” field type the shared secret as provided by your Zenected administrator. Remember to click “OK”.
To connect to Zenected click on the Network icon (Wi-Fi or wired) [Step 19] and click on the desired VPN connection – Zenected in our example [Step 20]. And you are done!
